Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi should issue a notification for the formation of the Vigilance Committees in districts under the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act 1992 and Rules 1995. Jawad Aslam of Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child demanded this in a press conference here on Friday. Aslam maintained that the government has not implemented the law effectively, as the act calls upon the state to establish multilateral district Vigilance Committees headed by a district nazim.

However, the Vigilance Committees in Punjab were not operational till this date, he added.
